Intercambio-es.com was made as a university graduation project by Joost Puite, New Media student at the University of Amsterdam. I created this site because I found that many people in Madrid (where I spent a year doing an Erasmus program at Universidad Autonoma de Madrid) are looking for intercambios.

Because posting flyers on phone booths is not the most practical way to go I thought this might be an interesting idea for a site. A few months later intercambio-es.com has hundreds of registered users, mainly in Barcelona and Madrid.

Recently I added special pages for: Valencia, Sevilla , Tenerife ,Salamanca and Granada to make sure these get some more attention as well.

In my humble opinion the site offers some interesting advantages over existing sites.

• You can search with different preferences like age group/days you might prefer, gender and offcourse the language you want to learn. Because of this you do not need to browse throught a huge list determining whether people fit your criteria or not.
• Moreover you are free to unsubscribe at any point
• your email adres is not visible for visitors which indirectly keeps you of spamming lists.

Recently someone suggested I should do the same for London which I did. I'm also working on Paris and Amsterdam.
